FAQS

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY INITIAL CONSULTATION?

Please bring your baby with you and prepare to feed within the consultation.  I will require any hospital paperwork you have from the birth. Please also bring baby's green book so I can see how baby's weight has been tracking.

DO YOU OFFER REMOTE CONSULTATIONS?

Yes I do offer telehealth consultations, over a secure video link.  I can sometimes do these after hours from home, on request. You may want to consider emailing me some photos prior to your appointment in lieu of a physical examination.  Sometimes I will need to bring you into my clinic to examine either you or baby.  The fees for telehealth are the same as face-to-face, but YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CLAIM A MEDICARE REBATE IF YOU HAVE NEVER PHYSICALLY SEEN ME AS A PATIENT (IN PERSON).

WHAT ARE THE COSTS?

  1. That depends on the time we spend together. New Lactation Appointments are booked for one hour but if we don't require all of that time,  you don't pay for it.

  2. For a New Lactation Appointment it is generally $153 for mother and $153 for baby, with a rebate of $75 approximately each.

  3. Tongue tie release attracts only a small fee, under $10, inaddition to the time-based fees above.

WHY IS THERE A CHARGE FOR BOTH MOTHER AND BABY?

Because my consultation is very thorough, and I ask questions about both other and baby, and examine you both, I must by law write notes on both of you. This requires me to bill both of you, which actually helps you obtain a better Medicare rebate than if I charged only one of you.
