-
Please bring your baby with you
-
A nappy change
-
Prepare to breastfeed within the consultation
-
Any hospital paperwork you have from the birth
-
Baby's Green Book so I can see how baby's weight has been tracking.
-
Nipple shields or other aids you have been using

DO YOU OFFER REMOTE CONSULTATIONS?
-
Yes I do offer telehealth consultations, over a secure video link generated by HotDoc.
-
The fees for telehealth are the same as face-to-face
-
YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CLAIM A MEDICARE REBATE for telehealth if you haven't seen me F2F in my clinic in the last 12 months.
WHAT ARE THE COSTS?
-
That depends on the time we spend together. New Patient Breastfeeding Appointments are booked for one hour but if we don't require all of that time, you don't pay for it.
-
New Lactation Appointment is booked for both Mother and Baby, it incurs a cost of $200 each (total $400). If you are both eligible for Medicare rebates, you will receive approximately $153.90 back. For twins you will receive rebates for both.
-
Tongue Tie Release costs an additional $100 which covers equipment, sterilisation, medical indemnity insurance, nurse assistance etc. A Medicare rebate of $49.15 applies.

WHY IS THERE A CHARGE FOR BOTH MOTHER AND BABY?
Because my consultation is very thorough, and I ask questions about both other and baby, and examine you both, I must by law write notes on both of you. This requires me to bill both of you, which actually helps you obtain a better Medicare rebate than if I charged only one of you.
You will note that my fees are more expensive than a regular private fee Lactation Consultant. This is because I am a fully qualified GP as well (hence seeing me as a patient attracts Medicare rebates). I have spent 20 years in this subspeciality and I am one of only a handful of similarly qualified doctors in Victoria. I maintain full registration with AHPRA, the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, and hold current medical indemnity insurance.
